Welcome to the webpage of the SWARMS project. SWARMS stands for SoftWare Architecture for Radio-based Mobile Self-organizing Systems. In this research project we want to explore how the development of applications for swarms of devices cooperating through wireless communication technologies can be supported by a read/write collaboration paradigm. For more detailed information please check the project section.

The SWARMS project is a cooperation of the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel and the University of Lübeck. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation, where it is part of the focal program "Basic Software for Self-Organizing Infrastructures in Networked Mobile Systems" (SPP 1140).

We use Mica and 430/2 sensor motes as a hardware plattform for experiments

as well PDAs and other more traditional devices
and unconventional devices like adapted WLAN routers.
